Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) continues to strengthen its international academic engagement through the presence of Prof. Babatunde Olamide Bamgbose, well known as Prof. Tunde, a distinguished professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, who is currently serving as an international lecturer and specialist at the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), UNHAS. His appointment reflects the university’s commitment to enhancing global academic collaboration and improving the quality of education in the health sciences.
Prof. Tunde is a senior academic with extensive international experience in teaching, research, and clinical practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Radiology. He obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Lagos, completed advanced training in the United States, including a Master of Science and specialty certification at the University of Iowa, and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He also holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, equivalent to a PhD. He was also a Research Fellow at Okayama University, Japan.
Throughout his academic career, Prof. Tunde has served as Professor at Bayero University and Honorary Consultant at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, while also holding visiting and adjunct professorships in several universities. His scholarly contributions include numerous international publications, supervision of postgraduate research, and active involvement in global professional associations in dentistry and radiology. He is also recognized as a pioneer of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology training in Nigeria and West Africa.
At UNHAS, Prof. Tunde contributes as an international lecturer and specialist at the UNHAS Dental Hospital, supporting academic development, clinical services, and research collaboration. His presence is expected to provide valuable exposure for students, residents, and faculty members, particularly in diagnostic sciences, imaging, and maxillofacial radiology.
