Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), through their International Office (IO), conducted an official visit to Kanazawa University (KU) on 10 April 2026 at Kakuma Campus as part of the evaluation and strengthening of the UNHAS–KU Summer Program 2025. This program represents a tailored academic collaboration designed to foster global engagement and intercultural learning between the two institutions.

The UNHAS-KU Summer Program 2025 successfully involved seven students from KU and thirteen students from UNHAS, including both local and international participants. The program provided a platform for academic exchange, cultural immersion, and collaborative learning experiences.

The UNHAS delegation, led by the Head of International Office Andi Masyitha Irwan, Ph.D and accompanied by the Program PIC Saaduddin, Ph.D, was warmly welcomed by the Vice President of KU, Prof. Noriko Hasebe. In her remarks, Prof. Hasebe expressed her appreciation for UNHAS’s commitment and excellent organization of the program, highlighting its meaningful contribution to enhancing students’ global perspectives.

The evaluation session was conducted collaboratively with the KU International Office team, led by Dr. Raj Lakhi Sen and Professor Yamamoto. The discussion provided valuable insights and constructive feedback, particularly on improving program arrangements and scheduling based on participants’ experiences. Overall, KU acknowledged that the program had delivered impactful academic and cultural benefits for their students.

Looking ahead, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to continue and expand the UNHAS-KU Summer Program in 2026, strengthening long-term academic collaboration and student mobility.

During the visit, UNHAS also participated in KU’s Study Abroad Session, where Saaduddin, Ph.D introduced UNHAS to prospective international students. The presentation highlighted UNHAS’s academic excellence, international admission pathways, scholarship opportunities, and access to internships and research programs. KU students were also invited to participate in the 9th International Cultural Program (ICP), UNHAS’s flagship annual summer program, as well as the upcoming UNHAS-KU Summer Program 2026.

The visit concluded with a campus tour organized by KU’s International Office, followed by a cultural dining experience featuring traditional soba noodles, further strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two institutions.
