The high-level meeting featured President Yoko Takahashi of Tsuda University, alongside the Vice President for Academic Affairs and International Affairs, and several representative Deans on 6 April 2026. This gathering served as a pivotal platform to deepen the collaborative ties between Tsuda University and Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), focusing specifically on bridging research interests and expanding mobility opportunities for both faculty and students. Meanwhile the delegation of UNHAS was represented by Andi Masyitha Irwan, PhD (Head of International Office) and Syahrul Said, Ph.D (Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Nursing).

A primary outcome of the discussion was the strategic plan to host a matching meeting between Tsuda University’s Southeast Asian studies researchers and the Thematic Research Group (TRG) leaders from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at UNHAS. This initiative aims to align specific research strengths and identify niche areas for joint publications and cross-border fieldwork, ensuring that the partnership produces tangible academic contributions to the field of regional studies.

Furthermore, the meeting prioritized the logistical follow-up for a sabbatical leave program, facilitating the arrival of a professor from Tsuda University to UNHAS. This exchange is expected to foster a rich environment for knowledge sharing and curriculum development. Alongside faculty mobility, both institutions committed to streamlining the inbound program for Tsuda University students, ensuring a robust support system for Japanese students seeking an immersive academic and cultural experience at UNHAS.
