Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) continues to bolster academic services for their postgraduate students located abroad by organizing a Training on Writing for Reputable International Scientific Journals. The event took place from 1–2 April 2026, at the Indonesian Cultural Center in Dili, Timor-Leste. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to promote the development of hybrid classes for all Unhas postgraduate students based in Dili.
The training was facilitated by Prof. Tasrifin Tahara, the Education and Cultural Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Dili. This collaboration serves as a form of support to enhance students’ academic capacity, specifically in strengthening their skills to write scientific articles and successfully publish in reputable international journals. According to the official invitation, the program was specifically designed to improve the academic competence and scientific publication capabilities of postgraduate students in Timor-Leste.

The event featured several experienced academic speakers, including Prof. Dr. Pawennari, MA, a lecturer at the Department of Anthropology and Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Anthropological Association (AAI), and Prof. Dr. Musran Munizu, M.Si.M.AP, the Vice Dean 3 for Research and Publication at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNHAS. They were joined by Dr. Alem Febri Sonni, M.Si., the Head of the Master’s Communication Science Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNHAS, and Dr. Ahmad Ismail, S.Sos., M.Si, the Head of the Anthropology Department at FISIP UNHAS. Through various sessions and discussions, these experts shared practical strategies for drafting high-quality scientific articles—ranging from refining research ideas and structuring manuscripts to selecting the right journals and navigating the submission and publication process.
In addition to the speakers, the event was attended by the Liaison Officer of UNHAS in Timor-Leste, Dr. Eng. Lucio Marsal Gomes, S.P., M.Eng.Agron. His presence signifies strong institutional support for developing postgraduate learning models that are more adaptive, inclusive, and accessible to Unhas students outside of Indonesia.
This training aims not only to improve technical writing skills but also to serve as a strategic step in building a productive academic culture among UNHAS postgraduate students in Dili. Within the context of hybrid learning, such activities are vital as they strengthen the academic connection between students in Timor-Leste and the broader UNHAS educational ecosystem. Through the synergy between UNHAS, the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, and academic stakeholders in Timor-Leste, this training is expected to open wider learning opportunities while increasing the competitiveness of postgraduate students in producing scientific works worthy of publication in reputable international journals.
