Rector of Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), Jamaluddin Jompa, hosted His Excellency (HE), the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Indonesia for a high-level visit to the Faculty of Animal Science (FAPET). The visit, held on Monday, 2 March 2026, featured a deep-dive inspection of the university’s cutting-edge Closed House facility at the Tamalanrea Campus. Accompanied by Dean Prof. Dr. Syahdar Baba and leadership from PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk, the delegation explored the facility’s modern management systems, advanced cultivation technologies, and the rigorous biosecurity standards that have become a hallmark of UNHAS’ livestock program.

During the visit, Jamaluddin—warmly known as Prof. JJ—emphasized that international synergy is the backbone of institutional growth.”Our partnership with industry giants like PT Charoen Pokphand since 2014 is a strategic blueprint for developing top-tier human resources. This collaboration is a cornerstone of the Faculty’s progress,” Prof. JJ remarked. He further signaled a shift in the partnership’s trajectory, stating that the goal is to move beyond mere production. The vision now includes a holistic expansion into academic strengthening, joint research, and global innovation.

HE Ambassador Prapan Disyatat expressed his admiration during his inaugural visit to the campus, praising UNHAS for its commitment to modernizing the livestock sector. He noted that the visit marks a “massive opportunity” to bridge the gap between Thailand and UNHAS across various sectors, from research to knowledge exchange. This meeting is expected to be a catalyst for Unhas’ global expansion, solidifying its reputation as a world-class hub for sustainable agribusiness and innovative higher education.
